Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened a new facility called the Dubai Future Complex in the Nad Al Zabeel district on Sunday, designed to house researchers and specialists working on projects that will shape the city's future.

Dubai officials said the complex is expected to attract around 30,000 researchers and specialists in total, completing a cluster of future-focused institutions in the area alongside the Dubai Future Foundation, the Museum of the Future and the Dubai Future Academy. The project's stated goal is to advance work in sectors described as vital to human life, with Sheikh Mohammed saying the initiative reflects a philosophy that "the future is not waited for, but made."

In his remarks, Sheikh Mohammed said the real challenge facing nations is not the pace of development itself but the slowness of preparing for and thinking about what comes next. He framed the new complex as proof that active, early preparation for future shifts, rather than reacting to them once they arrive, is what positions a city for genuine global leadership.

Nad Al Zabeel has become one of the central hubs for Dubai's future-oriented projects in recent years, already home to the Museum of the Future. The opening of the new research complex extends that cluster and forms part of a longer-term strategy to position Dubai as a global centre for research and innovation. Further details on the complex's specific research programmes are expected to be announced in the coming months as the facility becomes fully operational.
